2026: 02/26-03/02 Threaded Visions: Sewing Stories in Glass, with Susan Taylor Glasgow
February 26 - March 2, 2026. 9am to 5pm daily.
Join nationally acclaimed artist Susan Taylor Glasgow for a one-of-a-kind workshop exploring her signature technique: stitching kiln-formed glass into sculptural works of art. In this immersive 5-day experience, students will learn how to create and assemble glass components using Bullseye clear and colored sheet glass, building toward a beautifully constructed final project.
We'll begin with a small stitched ornament to become familiar with the glass sewing process. From there, you’ll move on to a quilt-inspired sushi plate, gaining comfort with composition and dimensionality. Finally, you’ll construct a three-dimensional glass house, composed of seven hand-cut, fused, and stitched panels. The final day is dedicated entirely to the assembly of your house, where precision, patience, and creativity all come together.
While no materials or tools are required to bring, students may choose to include small personal objects to place inside their finished houses. The internal dimensions are approximately 4" x 4" x 6" tall, ideal for objects measuring about 3" wide x 4" tall x up to 3" deep. (These can also be added later in your own studio.)
Whether you're a seasoned glass artist or simply excited to explore this unique fusion of glass and fiber techniques, you'll leave with a deep appreciation for the possibilities of sewn glass—and three original artworks to show for it.
