07/22 From Flat to Fabulous: Draped Glass Tealight Holders
07/22, 10am to 1pm.
Skill Level: All Levels, ages 16+
What starts as a flat sheet of glass becomes something entirely different in this creative fused glass workshop!
Students will design and create a unique glass panel using frit, stringers, powders, and other decorative glass elements. Whether your style is abstract, whimsical, geometric, seasonal, floral, or completely one-of-a-kind, this project is all about bringing your own artistic vision to life.
Once your design is complete, the magic begins. After kiln firing, your piece will be draped over a specialized mold, transforming it into a sculptural vessel that beautifully catches and reflects light. The finished piece is perfect for displaying a battery-operated tealight, holding small treasures, or serving as a decorative accent in your home.
Along the way, you'll explore design principles, decorative glass techniques, and the fascinating process of turning a flat piece of glass into a three-dimensional form.
Perfect for beginners and experienced glass artists alike.
You'll learn:
- How to design imagery and patterns for a draped form
- Techniques for working with frit, powders, stringers, and decorative glass
- How draping molds create dimension and movement
Projects will be kiln-fired after class and available for pickup at a later date.
Some materials included. Additional optional materials available for purchase.
