07/14 Introduction to Chainmail

In this full-day workshop, immerse yourself in the fascinating world of chainmail and learn the basics of this ancient art form. Throughout the day, you will be introduced to ten different chainmail patterns that are widely used in jewelry making, costume design, and armor crafting.

Starting from the simplest 1-in-1 pattern to more intricate designs like Box and Byzantine, you will create a sample of each of these ten patterns using colored anodized aluminum jump rings. With the guidance of our expert instructor, you will learn the proper techniques for opening, closing, and weaving these rings together to create a chainmail mesh.

At the end of the class, you'll have a collection of ten unique samples, each showcasing a different pattern, which you can take home and use as a reference for your own future chainmail projects. Whether you are a jewelry enthusiast, cosplay designer, or simply interested in exploring a new craft, this class is a great way to get started with chainmail.
